WAY-2-GIVE is going on now!

We need you! Yes, you... not that guy behind you. (did you look?) :-P

The transparent truth is that we're short on ministry funds even after a 'belt tightening' throughout our family of stations.

I think Wally said it really well today while on the air with Jeff. He said 'everyone's asking for a bailout and this is a God bailout'. Its true. Every call and every online gift is a blessing from God and goes towards furthering the ministry and the name of Jesus.

We're asking for one time gifts, not monthly pledges. If you can give a one time gift to help keep WAYFM on the air and strong in the Tennessee Valley, then please go now to: http://wayfm.com/donate

Love you guys!

Yay! Yay! Yay!

Historically, Men are the hunters and Women are the gatherers. Which begs me to question... why don't the Men take care of the Turkey dinner for Thanksgiving and let the Women rest more so on Friday they are ready to ditch their pumps for pair of tennis shoes and have at it?

Regardless of all that, if you need a deal (and who doesn't?) Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving and some of the ads are already out. I really like this site (click here) because it allows you to make a 'wish list' as you go.

Good luck and try not to get hurt--Jack was right about needing football pads!

<3 Betsy

P.s. If there's an item you are looking for leave a comment that way if someone sees it somewhere they can let you know where to find the best deal!!!!

Christmas is just around the corner!

This year there are a few 'hot toys'. One of them (well apparently) is Koto the Triceratop! You might remember the animatronic horse last year that stormed Target and Walmart vying for your child's affection, but now... now it's a dinosaur! Wicky-whaaaat!?

We had the land before time when I was growing up in the 80's and frankly I'd never want to be Sarah (the Triceratop)'s friend. She was mean. I mean... rude--mean. One of the claims in the commercial is that Koto 'responds like a REAL dinosaur'... REALLY!? You know that? lol! Ok soooo is Koto going to try to eat the kid? Try to push it into a tar pit? What? Nooooo this dinosaur is sweet and cuddly! You kid can even ride it! lol... oh my... kids... toys... wow.
Koto in action:

Enjoy!

Pledge Drive is over!

Thank you so much to everyone that supported WAY FM during our Pledge Drive.

Without you we wouldn't have been able to get to 99.1%

We did fall short of our goal of being 100%--fully funded but regardless of that we are truly thankful to everyone that has given, prayed, and/or volunteered.

Only being here for about a month and Jack here a little over a year, we both agree that the Tennessee Valley is an AMAZING place to live. Thank you for allowing WAY FM to be a part of this great place!

<3 Betsy

What are we doing up before 10am on a Saturday?!

Wahooooooooooo!

Jack & I want to say 'Thank you!' to everyone that's given so far to our fall pledge! We're a 'wii' bit shy and 'wii' need you! (See the hints?) If you're reading this you are fortunate. We'll be doing ONE more drawing in a bit for a Nintendo Wii.

Regardless of our drawing we do need you to partner with us. Lives are being changed through the impact that listeners just like you have made by supporting us for the last 5 and a half years.

Be the one to help us get to 100%! We need, not just want or would like to, be at 100% and fully funded to continue to be here in the valley for you, your friends, and your family.

Be a rockstar... be a hero... call and pledge 888-23-WAYFM or give online here.

Love ya!
<3 Betsy

Friday, November 14, 2008

It's Day 4 and we still need your help!

We're at 62% of our goal and really need to be at 100% when we finish pledge drive to remain strong in the valley. Be the one to help push us towards our goal!

Whether you give monthly, or a one time gift: we... need... you!

If you'd like to see pictures or receive other updates from WAY FM join us on facebook!

A couple of ipods and Nintendo Wii's down and we're done with day two of pledge drive!

Now... don't fret my pet, we've got plenty more give aways and fun to be had the rest of this week while at the same time we raise money to support this MINISTRY towards changing of lives and bringing hope to listeners and those that will become listeners to 88.1 WAY FM.

Maybe you're like Angela. Here's her story:

"My family listens to WAY-FM every day, where ever we go. During daily trials, hearing the word of God through song and testimony, helps know that things will get better. I had made a phone donation of $25, but when I talked it over with my husband, he said to go online and make it $50. You touch our lives everyday and we appreciate it very much!"

Tonight when we wrapped up pledge drive to hand it over to Wally we were at 32% of our goal. We've got 68 more percentage points to gain in the next couple of days and we need you! Its not a want or a desire to have you partner with us in ministry, its a real neeeeeed for you to do it. But don't do it for us. Do it for the teacher that plays WAY FM in her classroom, the solider in Iraq thats gaining encouragement and hearing word from home through WAY FM, or your own kid.

Tomorrow at 6am we'll be back on-air with another day of pledge drive. Hope to hear from you!

<3 Betsy

Tuesday, November 11, 2008

You rock!

First of all, if you are a Vet or currently serving in the military, THANK YOU! I'm sorry you don't hear thank you more often. You deserve much more than one day!

Next, thank you SO much for your prayers and support on day one of our Fall pledge drive! We're movin' and groovin' into day two. Tomorrow morning starting at 6am we will be back on the air asking for listeners just like you to get on board and give to this ministry.

We DO have some cool things in store. Maybe you heard about the CDs, Winter Wonder Slam back stage passes w/ two tix, and the ipod w/ 10 CDs we gave away today. Well, that's the tip of the iceberg! We've got Nintendo Wii's, more ipods, Huntsville Havoc tix, more Winter Wonderslam stuff, Autographed drumstix and drum heads from Barlow Girl, and much more!

You miss a day of pledge drive--nah nah... scratch that--you miss an HOUR of pledge drive, you miss a lot.

It all kicks back up tomorrow morning at 6am!

Be there...

Bigger Than a Cup of Coffee...

It's funny how two years of mud slinging, chest thumping, and promise after promise by all the candidates running comes down to you and I taking a little time to walk into a polling place or mail in a ballot to cast our vote. It's really hard to wrap my head around the reality that in less than 14hrs we'll have a new President-elect in this country.

Hopefully amidst all the campaigning and passionate debates between friends, family, and fellow Americans we can all decide after Election Day to drop any animosity and stand behind whoever is elected. I would personally hate to see this country torn apart more than it has been. If we will truly be a strong and dominate force in the world market, influence, etc we MUST have a united front.

History is being made today. Be a part of it. Share your voice through your ballot and feel free to post any comments about how you felt casting your ballot today but please don't use a comment to endorse or trash a candidate.

Thanks for reading!

Election day is a day away...

If you missed the show this morning Jack and I gave a couple of websites you might need as you plan on voting and head out to the polls tomorrow.

For polling locations or details about voting in Alabama:

http://alabamavotes.gov/

If you are listening online or outside of the great state of Alabama try this site:

http://maps.google.com/vote

Also, so you know, it is the law that if you are IN LINE to vote at 7pm when the polling locations close you are legally still able to cast your vote.

Just a friendly reminder too, that no matter who you have decided in your heart to vote for PLEASE make your vote known at the polls. If you know of someone that might be elderly or unable to drive themselves to the polls give them a call. You’ll not only brighten someone’s day that you thought of them, but you’ll be helping democracy in action!

It’s crazy to believe we’ll have a new President-elect within 48hrs. Regardless of who wins just remember that united we stand, divided we fall.

Reaching Out to Those Who are Hurting

From: Jack Davis

About a week ago the news of 22 individual arrested from illegal activity at the Scenic Overlook on Monte Sano Mountain rocked the Tennessee Valley. I recognized three of those guys & I personally know two. I've been struggling with how to reach out to these guys & let them know I'm praying for them. I know this has to be humiliating & how embarrassed they are which is why approaching them is difficult.

Thanks for all the calls during the Morning Show...GREAT ADVICE!!! If you would like to share your story about how you have or would have dealt with a situation like this...feel free to leave feedback.

Have a great Labor Day Weekend!!!

Several homes & businesses were affected by the flooding in the Midwest. One of the towns hit the hardest is Cedar Rapids, Iowa (which is where I moved here from). Lots of people are also breaking things with their Wii, and you can see what they have broken at http://www.wiihaveaproblem.com/

The new fad with the Wii system is the Wii Fitness. Who knew that you could exercise with a video game. I must say that our kids will be improved with this, so long as they don't break anything!

An update about Steven Curtis Chapman

The following statement has come from Chapman’s manager, Jim Houser:

“Maria Sue Chapman, adopted and youngest daughter to Mary Beth and Steven Curtis Chapman, was killed in a tragic accident in the family driveway on Wednesday evening. She was LifeFlighted to Vanderbilt Children's Hospital but for only reasons God can explain she went home to Him ... not to Franklin as we all so desperately wanted.

Your prayers are needed for all in the Chapman family. This is a family who has so generously loved and given to so many. Just hours before this close knit family was celebrating the engagement of the oldest daughter Emily Chapman, and were just hours away from a graduation party marking Caleb Chapman's completion of high school. Now, they are preparing to bury a child who blew out 5 candles on a birthday cake less than 10 days ago.

These words are unthinkable to type. And yet we trust in a God who was not surprised by this and because of Jesus I am certain through faith in Him we will see Maria again.”

Chapman’s website has posted a special video diary in memory of Maria that you can access by going to http://chapmanchannel.typepad.com/inmemoryofmaria/

Funeral arrangements have been announced for Maria Sue Chapman, details below:
-Friday May 23rd Visitation 5-8pm
-Saturday May 24th Memorial Service 11am
at Christ Presbyterian Church
2323 Old Hickory Blvd Nashville, TN

Prayers are with Steven Curtis Chapman and family

MARIA SUE CHAPMAN, DAUGHTER OF STEVEN CURTIS CHAPMAN, DIES IN ACCIDENT AT FAMILY HOME

NASHVILLE, TN...5/21/08... At approximately 5pm on the afternoon of Wednesday May 21st, Maria Sue Chapman, 5 years old and the youngest daughter to Steven and Mary Beth Chapman was struck in the driveway of the Chapman home in Franklin, TN. Maria was rushed to Vanderbilt Childrens Hospital in Nashville, transported by LifeFlight, but died of her injuries there. Maria is one of the close knit family’s six children and one of their three adopted daughters.

More than five years ago, Chapman and his wife MaryBeth founded The Shaohannah’s Hope Ministry after bringing their first adopted daughter, Shaohannah, home from China. The ministry’s goal is to help families reduce the financial barrier of adoption, and has provided grants to over 1700 families wishing to adopt orphans from around the world. Chapman is a five-time GRAMMY ® winner and 54-time Dove Award winning artist who has sold over 10 million albums and garnered 44 No. 1 singles.
